What's Happening Rss

Thank you to the over 700 families who have contributed to emptying orphanages in Rwanda.  Your gifts are making a difference helping 3000 children leave the orphanages!  5 of Rwanda's 35 orphanages have already been emptied and 800 children now have a permanent loving family in Rwanda to call their own. With your help, the PEACE plan is training and equipping local churches to empower and support Rwandan families for life-long, self-sustaining adoption.  Children now have a family of their own! Let’s get to zero children in orphanages!

If you haven't gotten involved yet, you still can! Here are two options:

You and your family can make a lasting difference by traveling to Rwanda! Teams are going year round, and we’ll provide all the training you need.

To learn more about going on Rwanda PEACE trip, email or attend one of our trip info meetings:

  • May 15, 6:30-9pm in the MO2 gathering room
  • May 22, 6:30-9pm in the MO2 gathering room

For $38 a month, you can have a major impact in the life of an orphan as Rwanda continues to empty their remaining orphanages by the end of 2014!

Your sponsorship helps provide: A FAMILY, school fees, medical insurance, sustainable income-generating skills, church-based lay social worker support, and family training through the local church

Unlike other sponsorship programs, your sponsorship goes to the family through the local church. Working through our long-standing network of PEACE Plan local churches allows for high accountability and integrity.

The PEACE Plan is the only effort that is not just caring for orphans, but ENDING the orphan crisis by reuniting children with parents in the community or raising up and training adoptive families in Rwanda

This is an exciting time as Saddleback PEACE Teams are helping children get of orphanages and into families. You or your family can make a difference in ways you’ve always dreamed of by participating in an Orphan Care trip to Rwanda!

Children in Rwanda are learning about the love of Jesus through the love of a family of their own. You can help local churches as they partner with the Rwandan government, which has decided to empty all its orphanages by 2014. Of the 35 orphanages, 5 have already been emptied as children are placed into permanent families within Rwanda.

Orphan Care PEACE trips will do a variety of activities to help the local church.  We’ll provide the training you need before you go so that you can train local churches in things like the benefits of families, why orphans need to leave orphanages, assisting newly adoptive families, and very basic training of lay social workers using the community PEACE model. The average trip is about two weeks long.

Trips are scheduled throughout summer and fall, and more will be opening up soon.

Come to the Rwanda Trip Information Meeting on April 24th from 6:30 to 9pm in the MO2 Gathering Room at the Lake Forest campus to hear more about trips, ask questions, and learn how you can make a lasting impact in the life of a child!
